***This course will be limited to 12 students to allow for more reps and drills.***

A patrol rifle should always have a light with the capability to push light at rifle engagement distances. In this course we will be discussing all relevant low light principles and techniques related to utilizing patrol rifles. The course will include a block on low powered variable optics (LPVOs) and their use in conjunction with high candela WML's. 

Topics covered:

• Connection/mount to the rifle
• Low light principles (candela vs. lumens, why we use light, etc)
• Light/switching demos
• WML activation (momentary vs. constant on, PID)
• Handheld techniques with a rifle
• Oppositional lighting issues (equipment testing)
• Decision making drills/scenarios
• Reloads
• Rifle to pistol transitions with light activation
• Movement and light considerations
• LPVO/magnified optic demonstration at increased distances (75-100 yards)

At the end of this course, students will be able to choose a proper light/lighting technique for various environments and situations to mitigate their risk and reduce liability. 

A detailed email will be sent out approximately one week before the course. The email will include all logistical details and important info regarding the course. The course will run from 0700 to approximately 1630 hours. However, we will not end the course until all learning objectives are met.

Course requirements:

• Patrol rifle with optic, sling and weapon mounted light (WML)
• Duty pistol with weapon mounted light & duty belt
• At least three magazines for both pistol and rifle (more the better)
• Handheld flashlight (If you have multiple, please bring them)
• Spare batteries for WML and handheld lights
• 500 rounds of practice ammo for rifle // 150 for pistol
• Eye and ear protection
• Note taking material (if desired)

***Cancellations*** Cancellations will be given a full refund if the cancellation is made more than 30 days from the scheduled class date. If the course is cancelled within 30 days, a class credit will be issued that is good for one year. Classes CANNOT be cancelled within 48 hours of the course date - no credits or refunds will be issued. NO EXCEPTIONS. EPC reserves the right to change or amend these policies at any time.
